Process: Gut Reaction

< Back to Pencil Drawings.

The color-inversion idea was born from a simple question: How do I get a bright colors on a black background without having to go buy more paper or use fixative spray?

A cheat sheet was the first step in the project, removing some of the guesswork for the final color pallet.

Next, the line drawing was done in graphite pencil. Pencil lines would have shown up silver on the final product, so the colored version was done on a separate sheet of paper using a lightbox to transfer the image. Once colored, the image was scanned into the computer and the color inverted (a simple Ctrl + I command).
